There are a lot of different outdoor furniture and most of them needs minimal care and maintenance but there are some that still need some care and cleaning to keep it looking as new as when you first bought it. Caring for your outdoor furniture is not all that difficult too as you don't really need to go all out to polish it or get it reupholstered.
If your outdoor furniture is the durable and long-lasting type, caring for them is even easier because you only need to keep it clean and free from dust. Even if you don't want to clean them, you don't need to do it. But you don't want your guests to be sitting on grimy, dusty furniture!
For woven wicker furniture, you really only need to use the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner. Just follow the direction of the weave as you use the brush to dislodge any dust particles on the furniture. To get to the small nooks and crannies, you may need a smaller brush, like an old toothbrush or a paint brush with short bristles.
After clearing out the dust, then you can start giving it a wipe-down with a damp cloth to get rid of any stains or oily build up. All you need is some mild soapy water and the cloth to give it a mild cleaning. Just remember to rinse out the soapy water by giving it another wipe down with the cloth rinsed in clear clean water.
If your outdoor furniture is made of teak, you may need to care for it differently and it largely depends on the furniture quality. It may need to be given a new layer of finishing to maintain the wood or it may only need a nice good clean up with a damp cloth. However, it is different with natural wicker furniture because natural wicker needs more care.
Natural wicker needs a lot of moisture to keep it supple and stop it from drying out and cracking up. To moisturize it, you only need to rinse it in clear water and then use a rag to wipe it dry. Then leave it outside to completely drain the water and ry the furniture before your bring it back inside or else it will spoil easily due to the trapped moisture.
