One of the most well-balanced tennis racquets we've ever demoed was the Head Liquidmetal Instinct. After playing with it for two whole days, we nearly wanted to buy one and found no gaping flaws whatsoever.
At a very light weight of roughly eleven ounces, the racquet was very easy to maneuver, but wasn't flimsy like other racquets at that weight might be.
We loved the way the racquet connected with our strings, and we were able to place the ball around the court as well as any racquet lets us. While it's light and it has a bigger head, in no way will it limit your game.
The power the racquet gives you is excellent as well. As far as our baseline game was concerned, our strokes had some great speed on the ball and we found our shots landing deep on the other side of the court. Serving was just as successful, and the control it gave us on our second serve was very comforting.
While we loved what this racquet did for our ground strokes, someone using it for the first time may want to proceed with caution, as the light weight of the racquet can at first lead to some over hitting.
The string pattern on this racquet is something to take notice of for those who enjoy putting spin on the ball. The Head Liquidmetal Instinct has a dense 18x19 string pattern, making it easier to put spin on the ball and making the racquet livelier.
Perhaps the only downfall of the racquet is it sometimes plays too comfortable. We found the Head Liquidmetal Instinct absorbs so much power, simply blocking a serve from your opponent will leave the ball very short or in the net. We had to take a swing at even harder first serves, or the ball was left too short and the point was over. While the light weight usually benefits the Head Liquidmetal Instinct, there were these few instances where it could use a little more weight.
This is an excellent racquet for any player with an advanced game. While the light weight of the racquet is still somewhat rare when it comes to racquets in this class, a little tape to weigh it down can definitely ease any concerns about that. We liked it so much we wanted one, so we'd definitely suggest you check this out.
